Pack sizes available are 5g and 30g. Each pack has an aluminum tube with an internal lacquer that is either polyamide-imide or epoxyphenolic and is sealed with a polyethylene cap.

In what way should LMX4 be taken?

Venipuncture and Venous Cannulation are among the methods employed.

Suitable for usage by adults (older than one month) and children.

A 2.5 cm by 2.5 cm (6.25 cm2) patch of skin should be covered with 1 to 2.5 grams of cream before venipuncture or venous cannulation takes place. For babies younger than a year old, use no more than 1g of cream.

1g of cream is equivalent to 5cm of squeezed cream from a 5g tube or 3.5cm from a 30g tube.

To stop any disruption from outside sources, a dressing can be placed over the cream. Thirty minutes should pass before the desired effects or numbness show.

 

 

Do You Need to Take Any Precautions When Using LMX4 Lidocaine Cream?

LMX 4 Cream should only be applied externally, and contact with the eyes should be avoided at all costs as it may irritate them severely. Always wash hands after applying anything to the skin, and immediately wash your eyes.

Skin irritation may result from propylene glycol. If symptoms don’t go away, stop using.

Never apply a lot of product to areas of skin that are raw or blistered, and never apply to skin that is inflamed.

Elevating the dosage of LMX4 can raise lidocaine levels in the blood. Although an overdose is improbable, there may be symptoms of poisoning such as chest pain, irregular heartbeat, breathing difficulties, shaking, impaired vision, or dizziness or sleepiness. When LMX4 is used with other anesthetics, there is an increased risk of toxicity.

Every 24 hours, no more than two dosages should be administered.

Can you take LMX4 Lidocaine with other medications?

Patients taking Class I anti-arrhythmic medications (tocainide and mexiletine) should take lidocaine with caution since the two drugs have additive and often synergistic adverse effects.

When lidocaine is administered repeatedly at high doses over an extended period of time, drugs that decrease the clearance of lidocaine (such as cimetidine or betablockers like propranolol) may result in potentially hazardous plasma concentrations.

Is it safe to administer LMX4 Lidocaine to women who are pregnant or nursing?

Because lidocaine can pass through the placenta, it should only be used if absolutely necessary. It should be administered cautiously to nursing moms because it is also secreted during breastfeeding.
